I am a pocket player.
Don't tell me about notes.
Tell me about grooves.

ABOUT
Gianluca Magalotti headshot bio website

Gianluca Magalotti began his musical journey in his hometown of Rome, Italy, during his early teenage years playing his first notes on electric bass at Scuola Popolare di Musica Donna Olimpia under the guidance of Pino Pecorelli. It didn’t take too long for Gianluca to realize that his passion for music would accompany him over a lifetime.

After high school, Gianluca graduated in Bachelor of Music Jazz Performance from Conservatorio di Musica Santa Cecilia di Roma under the mentorship of Marco Siniscalco. In the meantime, Gianluca also attended Umbria Jazz Clinics international program, at the end of which just a few selected musicians received the honor of being awarded a prestigious scholarship in order to attend Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA.

During that program, Gianluca stood out as a prominent student and was awarded two scholarships as a performer and as a composer/arranger/producer. He then took the chance to pursue a new adventure in the United States and take his musical skills and ambitions to the next level. Gianluca had the opportunity to study with several big names of the international music industry, such as John Patitucci, Victor Wooten, Steve Bailey, Jacques Schwarz-Bart, Enrique Gonzalez-Müller, and Paula Cole.

In 2017, the Berklee Bass Department awarded Gianluca with an additional scholarship, known as Timothy B. Schmit Scholarship, which is only assigned to one outstanding singing bassist. Gianluca also earned two consecutive Project Band Awards, distinguishing himself as one of the best sight-reading musicians of the academic year.

In 2018, Gianluca graduated Summa Cum Laude from Berklee College of Music. His professional experience extends further back in time, when he was touring with some relevant Italian artists coming out from the talent show Amici, as part of a national tour hosted by Radio Dimensione Suono.

Today, Gianluca Magalotti's main purpose in music is to serve artists all around the globe, helping them contribute to a better world by giving them exactly what they need through his professional experience and deep artistic insights.
